I have my images up for a few months now and am a little overwhelmed by the responce. I really appreciate everyone who has stopped by and taken a look at my gallery, left comments or just said hi! Nice!
This is such a diverse site, I was sure I would get little or no attention. I am pleased so many appreciate my vision. I am starting to get the hang of things here, but still learning.
Here is my PR piece -
Jay Henry realized his destiny while staring into a developer tray as his first image slowly rose to the surface of the submerged photographic paper. He had been fascinated by the possibilities of photography since he had discovered the camera at the age of eight. The weight and measure of the camera’s abilities seemed to speak to him viscerally as an extension of his father’s literary vision. Jay had discovered the emancipation of poetry through the visual.
Master photographers Dean Collins, Paulo Takahashi, and Steve Dawson furthered the developing photographer’s command of perception, grace of pose, and manipulation of lighting to fully manifest the essence of mood captured in the halted moment. Jay’s peers encouraged him to join the Professional Photographer of America (PPA), knowing he would recall the “emotive baroque photographer,” as one admirer had ventured to describe him. Jay obliged. He won many local and regional print competitions and received dozens of Best of Show awards. He was even asked by the PPA to allow his most stunning visions to be included in the permanent Traveling Loan Collection. As an inspiration to the up and coming photographers in America, one of his prints now graces the halls of the Winona School of Photography.
Jay’s passionate search into the concept of beauty led him to explore many avenues. He is transfixed by the curving beauty, strength, and softness of the female form. “The female form is truly a beautiful thing,” he says, “a creation of God. I try to honor this creation…” Jay’s artistic approach to the female body has been touted as an amazing discovery of the true essence of Woman in line and form.
